I only read about one non-fiction book per year, which is my same rate for (non-Bukowski) poetry books. My sole 2009 non-fiction review, of How The Irish Saved Civilization, is here. And now I've met my 2010 NF quota.

My review in 50 words or less...
Who first proposed that America is God's gift to the rest of the world? Sarah Vowell makes a case for the Puritans of 1630. With great depth, catchy wit, and lots of present-day tie-ins, she examines the characters and theology of the settlement that became Boston. Highly recommended.
