Why I Play Chess

Seriously, this is a fairly typical chess opponent. Really. Yeah, right.

Well at least she's a brunette. That makes her smart, right? :P

for a long time, chess was the great bastion of the male chauvinists. there were no women grandmasters, which was proof (they said) that women are intellectually inferior. or maybe they just lacked a manly fighting spirit.

then one day a girl named Judit Polgar burst upon the scene, and refused to play in the ("sissy") women's tournaments. she took on men, on their own ground, and kicked grandmaster butt. today, she is a contender for the (men's) World Championship.

another bit of sexism bites the dust.
