“You
have no lady-in-waiting?”
She waved dismissively at the question, before condescendingly
answering. “They are cumbersome things
at my age: hoping for love, comparing knights and nobles. What do they know of the harshness of
life? The frailties of men? We risk our lives on childbed so men could
boast their sons. But even our young do
not listen to us.”
