Cenk Akyol

    Meet Cenk Akyol.  10 years ago, the Atlanta Hawks drafted him.  2nd Round; 59th pick overall.  From 2005 until now, he has never played in the NBA.

    Yet incredibly, within the past year, he has been traded three times.  Hawks to the Clippers; Clippers to the 76ers; and today, 76ers to the Nuggets.

    I suppose technically, it's the rights to (negotiate with) him that have been traded.  I don't know if he profits from this one bit.  But I'm thinking about turning professional.

Yes, I cheered for the Spurs

    Yes, I'm part of the Dark Gray portion of the chart.  Being partial to the Phoenix Suns, watching San Antonio play Miami was like trying to decide whether to cheer for the Devil or the Beast.

Rah, Rah - Phoenix Suns!

    Hooray, hooray!  Basketball season is underway!

    Alas, things do not bode well for our Phoenix Suns, and they've only played one game so far.  But they lost - at home - to New Orleans, whom all the ESPN talking heads are pegging as the bottom-feeder of the NBA-West.

    Methinks we need to pick up this powerful pachyderm and get him into the starting line-up ASAP.  Don't worry about the Salary Cap; he'll play for peanuts.

10 things I've learned (so far) from watching the NCAA tournament

01. ) The Big East was way overrated.  But we all knew that anyway.  Why is ESPN so enamored by them?

02.) The Big-10 held its own.  No more.  No less.

03.) The PAC-10 was as weak as those east coast skeptics said we were.  Yes, Arizona over-performed (or peaked at the right time).  Everyone else biffed.

04.) There is such a thing as karma, because VCU sent those arrogant bastards from Kansas home to watch TV.

05.) Duke needs to hire a conditioning coach.

06.) Baylor and Stanford have great women's teams.  But the UConn girls will win it all.  Again.  Easily.  (Yawns)

07.) As soon as you lose, ESPN refuses to waste even 5 words on your just-completed season.

08.) Bobby Knight and Digger Phelps are talking heads.  Thank goodness Charles Barkley hasn't succumbed to that yet.

09.) It's okay to cry if you lose.  Even if you're a guy.  Even if you're a Jayhawk.

10.) The Phoenix Suns first-round draft pick will be Courtney Vandersloot of the Gonzaga women's team.  Courtney will be the heir apparent to Steve Nash.

The NBA starts tonight!

And already we've learned that the Miami Heat might not be the greatest team of all time. . Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns start on the road in Portland, so the above comic seems appropriate. The experts are picking the Suns to finish anywhere from 5th to 8th in the West. . I'm thinking we won't even make the playoffs. As of this posting, it's halftime, we're down by four, and it doesn't look like we know the meaning of the words "defense" or "rebounding". Come back, Amaré. All is forgiven.
