Buddha Beatnik

I have hit a new level of obscurity for a music CD. The band's name is/was "Buddha Beatnik", and in 2000 they put out an album titled "Liberty School or...". Amazon doesn't carry it, indeed, just Googling the name gets zero hits. YouTube also lacks any hits.
Googling one of the band members' names - "Borfus Wallaby", gets a single hit to a Myspace site. Borfus apparently hangs out in the Portland, Oregon area.
My local used-record store offered the CD for $5.99 for a couple years, then dropped the price to $1.00, then further dropped it to $0.50, before some guy (me) took a chance on it.

I listened to the first 13 tracks  today (there are 19 in all) as I did my Fitbit walk.  The musicianship, songwriting, and vocals are surprisingly good for an album about which there is zero information out there.

Pink Floyd Appreciation Friday!

I love it when you actually have to be familiar with Pink Floyd album covers to understand a comic.

Rip Van Winkle's music

I have no idea what the joke is here, but I do agree with Rip's musical tastes.

Album Art Tuesday

Curiously, I didn't really care for this album the first time I listened to it.  But over time, it's become my second-favorite album by the group.

Featuring this clever mash-up  that I found at Music Fail a couple days ago.

Saturday Night Music Quiz

Okay, this Family Circus cartoon has been obviously altered.  Even if Bil Keane were still alive, I am certain he wouldn't be listening to Alternative Rock.  Someone has photoshopped three album covers into the image, and I for one think it is a superb effort.

Alas, I only recognize one of the three album covers here.  I'll list it in the comments.  But I'm clueless about the other two.  Then again, while I like Alt-Rock, it's not a genre I'm obsessed with.

Album Cover of the Day - Blodwyn Pig - Ahead Rings Out

Here's a group that I haven't thought about in decades.  But Radio Free Phoenix (RFP) played a track from this album a couple weeks ago - "The Change Song" - and it was positively awesome.

Blodwyn Pig was a short-lived British blues band from the late 1960's, featuring Mick Abrahams, an ex-guitarist from Jethro Tull.  They only put out two albums before breaking up.

I never owned this album, but the album cover is unforgettable, n'est-ce pas?
