
As in,
"Scrumping apples". Technically, it means to filch them, although the connotation seems more akin to
"gleaning a field". The dog in the pic is scrumping a small apple
(can we call it an "applet"?).

I am told this is a common word in the UK. I don't think it ever crossed the pond to the US. Which reinforces one of my pet sayings -
"England and America - two nations separated by a common language."
